Harmony Blends Brings Loose-Leaf Tea, Honey, and Olive Oil to Avon Lake

The west side has no shortage of places to get a good cup of coffee. A tea shop is a different story — and Avon Lake is about to get one.

Harmony Blends & More is opening at 690 Avon Belden Rd, Suite 1C, bringing loose-leaf tea, raw honey, olive oil, tea ware, and gift items to a stretch of Route 83 better known for lunch than for lingering. The shop is targeting a September 14 opening.

What Harmony Blends sells

The shop is built around loose-leaf tea, but the shelves go well past that. Five categories, according to the shop:

• Loose-leaf teas — the core of the business, sold by weight
• Raw honey — a natural companion to the tea wall
• Olive oils — the kind of pantry upgrade that also works as a hostess gift
• Tea ware — pots, infusers, and the gear that makes loose-leaf worth the extra step
• Gifts — including chocolates and curated sets

That mix is the whole strategy. A tea-only shop lives or dies on tea drinkers. A tea shop that also sells honey, olive oil, and chocolate becomes the place you stop when you need a gift and don't want to hand someone a candle. Heading into the holidays, that's a meaningful difference.

Who's behind it

Owner Alda describes the shop as a long-held goal rather than a business plan that happened to pencil out. "My love for tea inspired me to create a cozy and welcoming place where our community can slow down, explore new flavors, and discover something truly special," she says on the shop's website.

She's also made a point of saying the shop is for beginners as much as for people who already know their oolong from their pu-erh — expect help picking a blend rather than a wall of tins and a good-luck nod.

Where to find it

690 Avon Belden Rd puts Harmony Blends in the same plaza as Salad KraZe, just off Route 83 and an easy detour for anyone already running errands in Avon Lake. It's roughly 25 minutes from downtown Cleveland and a short drive from Avon, Bay Village, and Westlake.

One thing worth planning around: the shop is currently closed Saturdays and Sundays. For a gift-forward business that's an unusual call, and new shops often stretch their hours once they find their rhythm — but for now, a weekend browse isn't an option. Call ahead if you're making a special trip.

Why a tea shop, why now

Tea has been quietly gaining on coffee for a few years, helped along by younger drinkers looking for something with less caffeine and more variety, and by the same at-home ritual habit that turned espresso machines into countertop fixtures. Loose-leaf sits at the center of that: it's better than what's in the grocery aisle, it rewards a little attention, and it's cheap enough per cup to justify the setup.

What the west side hasn't had is a place to buy it in person — to smell a blend before committing, or to ask someone which honey goes with which tea. Starting this month, Avon Lake does.
