Back in 2023, Taylor Swift booked what felt like every city in America except this one. So Clevelanders got in the car and drove to Pittsburgh and Detroit to have the best night of their lives.

Much to the annoyance of every Clevelander, that's also how we've been buying bookshelves, bed frames, and countless other household items.

Cleveland was the biggest metro in America without an IKEA. As of this morning, that's over.

What’s the deal?

Stark Enterprises announced that a small-format IKEA is coming to Crocker Park, taking the former Dick's Sporting Goods space at 300 Crocker Park Blvd. These small format IKEAs are typically 50,000-80,000 square feet, carry about a third of the inventory of a full-size store, and serve as a pick-up point for items ordered online. Opening is targeted for spring 2027.

Beyond the Swedish meatballs

IKEA is a destination store. People will drive in from all over Northeast Ohio, the same way we've been driving to Pittsburgh and Columbus for years. Good news for every restaurant and shop around it. Less good news for anyone who already plans their Saturday around avoiding Crocker Park.

Traffic is the real unknown, and how Stark handles the influx of meatball and flat-pack fanatics is anyone’s guess.

We're clearly not over Taylor skipping Northeast Ohio. This helps.
