Wagner's of Westlake Announces Closing

Go check your parents' photo albums. If you grew up out here, Wagner's is probably in there somewhere. Usually in the background, behind the cousin with the tie on his head.

Since 1965, Wagner's has been the Westside's answer to "well, where should we have it?" Weddings, showers, graduation parties, first communions, and the lunches after the funerals. Sixty years of folding chairs, open bars, and somebody requesting the Macarena much to the DJ’s chagrin.

Now the family is closing the doors.

"It has truly been an honor to be part of so many of life's milestones," the Wagner family said in their announcement.

They'll stay open through the end of the year, with the final event on New Year's Eve. Which feels about right for a room that spent six decades hosting the end of one thing and the start of the next.

One more night in the background of everybody's memories. Then the lights come up.
